Ryan is an Operating Partner at Flagship Pioneering focused on starting new ventures and managing the existing ag portfolio. Before joining Flagship, he served as CTO at gene editing start up Pairwise. Prior to this, Ryan was Head of Agricultural Genomics at Illumina responsible for managing the Agriculture segment of the business. Ryan started his career at Monsanto where he held several roles in molecular breeding and biotech. Ryan holds a Ph.D. in Genetics from Iowa State University and a B.S. in Plant Science from Cornell University.
