<p>Robert Scott QFSM serves as His Majesty&rsquo;s Chief Inspector of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, a role he has held since 2021. The Chief Inspector is appointed by Order in Council and holds a Royal Warrant, allowing him to operate with complete independence from the fire service and from Government. The Inspectorate exists to provide assurance to Ministers, and the people of Scotland, that the fire and rescue service is operating efficiently and effectively, and to offer recommendations for improvement where appropriate. In his role, Robert also acts as Fire and Rescue Adviser to the Department of Health in Northern Ireland.&nbsp;</p> <p>Born and raised in Glasgow, Robert joined the fire service in 1989, beginning his career in some of the city&rsquo;s busiest fire stations. Through dedication and steady progression, he rose to the senior role of Assistant Chief Officer in 2010.&nbsp;</p> <p>Robert was part of the small team tasked with the reform of the fire and rescue service&nbsp;in Scotland in 2013. This work led to the creation of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, the largest service of its type in the UK.</p> <p>Robert retired from the fire service in 2017 and operated a successful consultancy firm, offering advice and support to public and private sector organisations. In this capacity he carried out a comprehensive review of training within London Fire Brigade publishing his findings in 2019.&nbsp;</p> <p>In recognition of his distinguished service, Robert was awarded the Queen&rsquo;s Fire Service Medal (QFSM) in 2015. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Fire Engineers (FIFireE) and was recently presented with the &ldquo;Outstanding Contribution to the Fire and Rescue Service&rsquo; award at the Fire and Emergency Service Awards, underlining his professional standing within the wider fire and rescue community.</p> <p>Beyond his career, Robert serves as a Trustee of the Firefighter&rsquo;s Memorial Trust, and is also a Trustee of the Fi
