Dr. Sanchez-Salas is an internationally recognized urologic oncologist and leading expert in image-guided focal therapy for localized prostate cancer. Graduating as valedictorian from the Universidad de los Andes (Venezuela), he completed surgical and urological training at the Universidad central de Venezuela before pursuing competitive fellowships at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (USA), Clínica Santa María (Chile), and L’Institut Mutualiste Montsouris (France). From 2011-2021, Dr. Sanchez-Salas served on the faculty of L’Institut Mutualiste Montsouris, where he advanced robotic surgery and partial gland ablation techniques while training numerous fellows. In 2021, he joined McGill University, where he leads the multi-energy focal therapy program. His expertise includes HIFU, cryotherapy, IRE, and fusion-guided biopsy. A dedicated educator, he is Co-Director of the McGill Urologic Oncology Fellowship. He is a frequently invited faculty member for the AUA, EAU, SIU, CAU, and European School of Urology. He serves as President of the Focal Therapy Society, Treasurer of the SIU, and Academic Activity Officer of the CAU. He holds the Stephen Jarislowsky Chair of Urology and is an elected member of the Association of Academic European Urologists (AAEU).
