Professor David Jenkins leads the Urban Energy Research Group at Heriot-Watt University and specialises in building physics and energy modelling, with over 100 publications in the field. He led the CEDRI project on energy demand reduction in Indian communities and was UK lead for the Horizon-funded crossCert project on next generation Energy Performance Certificates. His previous roles include Co lead of the EPSRC H+C Zero Network, CESI, and ReFLEX, focusing on aligning local renewable energy supply with demand. He is currently Co lead of a UKRI interdisciplinary project on biochar in buildings and advises Scottish and UK Government on building energy policy. He also leads the Energy and Efficiency in Buildings theme within SPEERI.
