Paul Greening focuses on international gas and LNG projects and transactions across Asia-Pacific and other major energy markets. He advises sponsors, investors, traders and international oil companies across the full LNG value chain – from upstream gas development and liquefaction projects to long-term sale and purchase agreements (SPAs) and LNG project development, as well as short-term trading arrangements. Paul has extensive experience advising on LNG export projects in the United States, Africa and Australia, long-term LNG offtake arrangements for IOCs, and short-term LNG trading structures for Singapore-based traders. He also regularly advises on upstream E&P asset acquisitions across Southeast Asia and gas monetisation strategies linked to cross-border pipeline and LNG infrastructure. His practice increasingly focuses on the role of natural gas and LNG in the energy transition, including hydrogen and ammonia export projects, carbon capture and storage initiatives, and the strategic repurposing and decommissioning of offshore E&P assets. In addition to project development and commercial contracting, Paul advises on cross-border energy M&A, joint ventures and divestitures across the gas and broader energy sectors. He has also acted on financial restructurings in the shipping, offshore services and downstream petrochemicals sectors, bringing a practical understanding of risk allocation and capital structuring in complex energy transactions. Paul serves as the Asia Regional Director of the Association of International Energy Negotiators and is a regular speaker on global gas markets, LNG contracting trends and the evolving role of gas in supporting energy security and decarbonisation.
