<p>Panos Pylarinos is a Senior R&D Facade Engineer in the Technology and Innovation Group at Laing O'Rourke. Previously, he worked as an engineering consultant for Ramboll's facades team in London where he was involved in delivering building projects in the Commercial and Residential sectors.</p> <p>Panos has conducted applied research around on-site robotics for construction at the Polytechnic University of Milan, where he dedicated his efforts to exploring the potential of automation in facade construction, aiming to improve process efficiency and safety for site operatives. His research project won the 2019 Silk Road Robotics Innovations Competition in China.</p> <p>Currently, Panos is working on transformative projects at Laing O'Rourke's Centre of Excellence for Modern Construction. His focus is on automating previously manual parts of the architectural precast concrete panel production, with the aim to improve productivity, ergonomics for operatives and minimise production waste.</p>
