<p>Ope is a Software Engineering Team Lead at Bloomberg, responsible for two platforms: the Bloomberg Auction System, supporting government bond and FX auctions across more than 40 countries, and BMatch, an FX order book used by central banks and interbank markets. Prior to Ope&rsquo;s career at Bloomberg, she earned first-class undergraduate and master&rsquo;s degrees from University College London. At UCL, she interned at Google Zurich and Citi London, which shaped her focus on building technology at the intersection of financial markets and large-scale systems. She is driven by the knowledge that the systems she builds have real-world market impact.</p> <p>At Bloomberg, Ope progressed from graduate engineer to Senior Software Engineer and now Team Lead, where she sets the technical direction, develops people, and delivers reliable systems while writing production code. Her platforms support critical market operations, where failures have real-world impact. Ope works collaboratively with product managers, clients, and engineering and QA teams globally to ensure the systems meet client needs.</p> <p>Ope has widened access to the technology sector. She was one of the pioneers of a Bloomberg initiative to expand engineering hiring from West Africa. She has delivered coding interview workshops at Ashesi University and the University of Ghana, and run virtual sessions with students in Nigeria. Through these programmes, over 100 students have been supported, with multiple participants securing engineering roles at Bloomberg.</p> <p>Alongside her core role, Ope contributes to Bloomberg&rsquo;s hiring process. She has helped design an interview format for senior engineering hires centred on code review and debugging, ensuring better assessment of the practical skills required.
