Born in Kassel, Germany, Dr. Julia Anna Schönherr started her mechanical engineering studies at the University of Kassel in 2008 and continued 2 years later at Leibniz University, Hanover specializing in biomedical engineering and mechanics, graduating with her masters in 2014. During her Master thesis, she joined the company Otto Bock in Vienna for half a year and stayed in the beautiful capital of Austria before starting her PhD at the Institute of Materials Science and Technology at TU Wien, in March 2014. In TU Wien’s AM group, led by Prof. Stampfl, she worked on additive manufacturing for biomedical application, with a focus on 3D-printed dental restoration made of ceramics. Since graduating in 2018 she continues to work as a post-doctoral researcher focussing on developing an international curriculum for educating technologies using digital methods such as additive manufacturing within the EIT-Manufacturing activity EIT-AddManu.
