James Craigen

Application Security Leader · Reed Exhibitions · company speakers →

James is a security engineering lead who spends most of his time figuring out how to make good security practices easier to adopt at scale. With over 15 years working across financial services, telecommunications, and aerospace, he’s seen first-hand how quickly complexity can grow, and how important it is to keep security grounded in real-world delivery. He currently leads application security initiatives at RX Global, where his focus includes enabling the safe use of emerging AI technologies, improving developer experience, and embedding security into everyday engineering workflows. Before that, he built and led DevSecOps teams at G-Research, working closely with engineers to integrate security into high-performance, cloud-based systems. James tends to sit at the intersection of technical detail and practical outcomes, whether that’s scaling threat modelling, improving visibility across thousands of code changes, or helping teams navigate trade-offs in fast-moving environments. He’s particularly interested in how automation, platforms, and now AI can help security teams move from being blockers to enablers.
