Jacques has been the Director of Tourism at the Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism since 2020. He is responsible for tourism planning, tourist guide regulation, visitor safety and destination growth and development in the region. He has 25 years of experience working on destination management and marketing initiatives for DMOs, government, communities and the private sector. He holds an M. Phil in Urban Infrastructure Design and Management from the University of Cape Town and a B.Com in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the University of Pretoria. Responsible destination custodianship is a significant area of focus for him.
