Ghaith Tibi is an urban planner and sustainable development advisor with extensive experience in city planning and sustainability advisory projects in the Middle East. He is currently an Associate Urban Planner and the Middle East Sustainability leader for Arup. Ghaith works closely with clients and stakeholders in the public and private sector advising on achieving ambitious sustainable planning and design outcomes appropriate for the region. Leveraging his deep technical expertise and multidisciplinary background, he brings a strategic perspective to complex urban issues setting out holistic frameworks informed by robust evidence base and clear systems thinking. Ghaith is also active in promoting sustainable development, speaking at high-profile events such as COP27 & 28 where he tackled principles of sustainable urban planning on panels in the Blue Zone. He also contributes to professional publications that support the transition to a net positive future, such as the Arup’s Rethinking Cities in Arid Environment and the State of Play Report for Circular Built Environment in Gulf Cooperation Council, which was prepared for the One Planet Network’s Sustainable Buildings and Construction Programme.
