Gallo Shanker is a respected hospitality leader and the General Manager of Hyatt Regency Cape Town, with a career spanning more than two decades and defined by dedication, growth, and a passion for service excellence. He began his professional journey in 1998 at the V&A Hotel in Cape Town, where he built a strong foundation in hospitality operations. Over the years, he gained extensive experience across some of South Africa’s most renowned properties, including Spier, Hotel Le Vendome, Cape Royale, and the Twelve Apostles Hotel. These roles shaped his expertise in luxury hospitality, guest experience, and operational leadership. He later held key roles within The Capital Group and 15 on Orange, further strengthening his strategic and operational acumen. Expanding his skill set beyond hospitality, Shanker also spent time in the retail sector with TFG (The Foschini Group), where he developed strong capabilities in customer engagement, commercial operations, and team leadership. In addition to his leadership roles, Gallo is deeply committed to developing future talent. He has served as a mentor and lecturer, including lecturing at the Private Hotel School, where he shared his industry knowledge and helped shape the next generation of hospitality professionals. His journey from starting his career in 1998 to leading Hyatt property reflects resilience, adaptability, and a people-first leadership philosophy. As General Manager, he is focused on delivering exceptional guest experiences, building high-performing teams, and upholding Hyatt’s values of care and excellence.
