Dr. Sunita Satyapal is an internationally known hydrogen and fuel cell leader with three decades of experience in government, industry, and academia. She has had diverse roles including as a researcher, a visiting professor, as Chief Engineer and Director for the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office, and as a manager in industry overseeing research as well as business development. She led various initiatives including developing national and technical hydrogen strategies and roadmaps, enabling and coordinating over $10 billion in hydrogen funding, and collaborating across more than 25 countries through global hydrogen partnerships. She has numerous publications, including in Scientific American, 10 patents, and various recognitions including two Presidential Rank Awards from the President of the United States. On the lighter side, her nicknames include “Joan of Arc of Hydrogen,” “Mother Theresa of Hydrogen,” and the “Beyoncé of Hydrogen” because of her steadfast support for hydrogen over decades.
