Dr Peter Pudney is a Professor of Industrial and Applied Mathematics at the University of South Australia. His research spans the application of optimisation and optimal control methods to problems including optimal driving strategies for trains and solar-powered cars, real-time scheduling of trains to manage network congestion and peak electricity demand, optimal operation of thermal and electrical energy storage, and demand management. He is the Chief Investigator for the research component of the Energy Masters project that is installing Home Energy Management Systems into 500 South Australian homes, and will introduce the project and the research themes.
