Paul is a Senior Research Fellow and Lecturer in the School of Chemistry at the University of St Andrews. Born in Dunedin, New Zealand, he earned degrees in Chemistry and Physics before completing his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Otago in 1998. Since then, his research has spanned solid oxide fuel cells, lithium batteries, solar energy capture, catalysis, and broader electrochemical systems. He has published more than 50 papers, contributed two book chapters, and served as investigator on major RCUK and EU projects exceeding £10 million. His teaching focuses on energy sustainability, future fuels, and advanced solid state chemistry.
