Dr Michel Heijdra is Director General for Climate & Energy for the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate. At the beginning of 2022 he joined the Ministry of from the Treasury department at the Ministry of Finance. At the Treasury he held the position of deputy Treasurer General and director of foreign financial affairs. Before that position he was active in different management position in financial sector policy at the Treasury and the Dutch Central Bank. He started his career as a consultant at McKinsey & Co. Michel Heijdra holds a masters degree in Physics as well as in Philosophy and studied in Leiden, Berlin and Utrecht. He finished his PhD in 2009 at the VU University Amsterdam with a dissertation on Darwinian explanations of the origin of language.
