Dr Joel Fredericks is a Senior Lecturer in Design at The University of Sydney’s School of Architecture, Design and Planning and a consultant in urban planning and community engagement. His research investigates the interaction between people, place, and technology, with a focus on community engagement, co-design, emerging technologies, and non-human perspectives in design. This includes the use of immersive technologies and AIsupported tools to enhance community engagement in crisis resilience and how AI can contribute towards more inclusive and adaptive engagement practices. In addition to academia, Joel’s consultation work covers infrastructure projects in energy, local government, road, rail, water and telecommunications.
