Dorien Ginsel was born in 1981 in Leiden in The Netherlands. After graduating in 2000 from the Nijmeegse Scholen Gemeenschap (VWO) in Nijmegen she started her bachelor’s to become a Physical Therapist at Thim van der Laan, University of Applied Sciences for Physiotherapy, in Utrecht. She studied there for 4 years and graduated in 2004. She then lived in Utrecht and worked in primary care as a Physical Therapist and also started lecturing at Thim van der Laan, University of Applied Sciences for Physiotherapy, in Utrecht. Besides that she enrolled in a 2 year educational program to become a Physical Rehabilitation Trainer at the International Academy for Sportscience. Combining work as a physical therapist and as lecturer, she really enjoyed sharing knowledge, skills and experience with the students. In 2006 she took a position at the Institute for Human Movement Studies at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (UASU) while still working as a physical therapist. In 2011 she starts her Masters in Care Trajectory Design which she finishes in 2013. Besides lecturing she starts as a project manager at UASU and she founds the ShoulderCommunity in co-creation with the professional practice.
