Dr. Yichen Liu, currently an Associate Professor at Southeast University’s School of Materials Science and Engineering since September 2024, earned his M.S. (2017) and Ph.D. (2023) from UNSW Sydney (QS World Rank #19, 2025). His research focuses on controlled growth and property modulation of 2D metallic electronic materials for integrated circuit thermal management/power electronics, and wide-bandgap metal oxide semiconductors. He has published as first/corresponding-author publications in top journals like Advanced Materials, Energy & Environmental Science, and Acta Materialia. In 2024, he secured an ARC Discovery Project (approx. ¥2.3M RMB) as PI, leading research on ultra-wide-bandgap oxide semiconductors for power devices. As a previous researcher at UNSW, his contributions to graphene power transmission technology led to a $20M AUD industry partnership (Hangzhou Cable Co.) in 2016, achieving 5% grid efficiency gains. This project exemplifies China-Australia industry-academia collaboration as a flagship initiative of the UNSW Torch Innovation Park. He also contributed significantly to 3 additional ARC projects and industrial collaborations.
