Victor will provide insight to how Cuban artists and architects defined a way to be modern and Cuban at the same time, creating an artistic culture that oscillated between the avant-garde and tradition responding carefully to climate and the environment. Victor Duepi teaches history and theory, design, and representation at the University of Miami School of Architecture. The principal focus of his research is on the Early Modern Spanish and Ibero-American world, mid-20th-century Cuba, and contemporary architecture. His books include New Directions in Research and Practice Emilio Sanchez in New York and Latin America , Cuban Modernism: Mid-Century Architecture 1940-1970 , with Jean-Francois Lejeune.
