Robert van der Waal started as logistics project lead and department head at GWK Bank. In this role he was responsible for the logistics behind the gulden-euro conversion. After a successful implementation he joined DHL. Within the DHL group, Robert has held various operational management positions for primarily service and spare part related multinationals in the electronics industry. After a side step in the fashion logistics, he joined the international express division of DHL where he managed 3 gateways. In 2009 Robert joined Samsung Electronics. In his current role as Director Logistics Operations he is responsible for 3 European Distribution Centers, located in The Netherlands and Poland. The Distribution Centers are focused on the European supply of spare parts, mobile phone accessories, white goods and all IT related products. He also holds responsibility for Samsung’s centralized European e-commerce fulfillment center. Robert is also involved in the curriculum commission of the Logistics faculty of the University of Applied Sciences NHTV, The Netherlands. Robert was one of the finalists in the Dutch logistics manager of the year election 2012.
