Richard is a technology policy specialist with over 25 years of experience in both the public and private sectors.  He is currently an independent member of the UK’s unelected second chamber, the House of Lords, and sits on the Board of the UK communications regulator, Ofcom. He started his career as a software engineer for the NHS and his past public sector positions include serving as MP for Sheffield Hallam and various tech advisory roles for the UK government. His private sector work has been in internet infrastructure (Cisco) and consumer services (Facebook).
