Mike Pratt is a seasoned media security professional and the Senior Director of CNN’s International High Risk Team, based in London. With a background as a BBC High Risk Advisor and ex-Parachute Regiment and Special Forces Support Group officer, he leads global security planning for high-risk journalism, enabling deployments in conflict zones. He frequently deploys into the field with Newsgathering teams to inform his judgement and has frequently worked in all current major conflict zones on the ground, including Ukraine, Syria, Sudan, Israel etc. Mike excels in crisis management, notably evacuating teams during Afghanistan’s 2021 transition and leading the CNN’s security function during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. His leadership has earned three Emmy Awards, an RTS, and a DuPont Award for impactful journalism. A University of Sheffield graduate (BA Geography and Politics), he has travelled to 77 countries, informing his expertise in global affairs. Mike is passionate about enabling impactful journalism in challenging circumstances.
