Mert Ogut is a sustainability professional focused on accelerating the net zero transformation. As Manager, Built Environment at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), he works with companies across the value chain to advance climate action through the Market Transformation Action Agenda. Mert holds an MSc. in Building Technology from TU Delft and a BSc. in Architecture from Politecnico di Torino, combining technical depth with strategic perspective. He brings experience in sustainable design, ESG strategy, and corporate reporting, helping translate net-zero ambitions into practical solutions. His current work focuses on accelerating built environment decarbonization through two pilot projects under WBCSD’s flagship Emissions Reduction Accelerator. He is leading an initiative to increase demand for net-zero commercial real estate by engaging corporate real estate directors and developing the business case for retrofitting large property portfolios. In parallel, he is advancing the adoption of low-carbon cement and steel by working across the value chain to address market, procurement, and implementation barriers. Prior to joining WBCSD, Mert worked as Associate Innovation Manager at EDGE, a globally recognized real estate developer, where he contributed to ESG strategy and product excellence.
