Mark Gunning is an Assistant Chief Fire Officer with Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) with over 40 years&rsquo; experience in Fire and Emergency Management.<br /> <br /> Mark holds a Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Law, post Graduate Certificates in Emergency and Disaster Management and Management. He also has Advanced Diplomas in Public Safety for Firefighting Management, Leadership and Management, and Emergency Management, Diploma of Public Safety Firefighting Management and a range of qualifications in Fire Science and Suppression.<br /> <br /> Mark is a Level 3 Incident and Regional Controller managing many large and complex fires in Wildland, Urban and Marine environments and has held State Agency Commander roles in the State Control Centre in Victoria.<br /> <br /> Mark Chairs Fire Management Committees in Western Victoria and is known for bringing emergency management and communities closer together and is a regular speaker on emergency management and fire science both in Australia and abroad.<br /> <br /> In his community, Mark is the Board Chair of Allied Justice, a Community Legal Service with offices across Western Victoria.&nbsp; The service and is heavily involved in Disaster legal support as well as many other areas of law. The service advocates for legal reform across several portfolios, including climate change and its consequences.<br /> <br /> Mark is currently the officer in charge of Operational Communications and IT in FRV, this portfolio is broad but oversees management of State Operations Centres during major emergencies.&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;
