Director of Safety · Illinois Trucking Association · company speakers →

I grew up in a transportation family of bus drivers, Truck Drivers OTR and Local, and diesel mechanics. I did not originally start a career in transportation, but as sometimes happens, what you grow up around becomes a passion. My start in the trucking industry began in 2000 when I joined a trucking company and learned to drive a semi OTR. Wanting to be involved in the safety and regulations of the trucking industry, I felt it was necessary to learn from the ground up. Having the opportunity to drive and experience what we ask our truck drivers to do, gave me an advantage in how to relate to them when holding drivers’ meetings or answering questions and concerns. I worked with an association as their compliance and regulatory person from November 2005 until December 2013. In January 2014 I joined the Illinois Trucking Association as the Director of Safety. I do training, hold drivers’ meetings, do licensing, IFTA, permitting, and answer many questions regarding new and current regulations. I am a certificated NATMI instructor for Certified Director of Safety/Certified Safety Supervisor and Certified Driver Trainer. Safety is an especially important function of the trucking industry. It can be achieved but it takes diligence and persistence. Setting a standard and maintaining control is a key. I help companies and individuals meet that requirement. Crazy as it may sound, I love working with the regulation side of our industry. My success comes from the help I give to other companies or individuals and the success they have. I love what I do. I am truly honored to have met, partnered and worked with so many individuals in the Transportation industry.
