Professorin für Soziologie mit dem Schwerpunkt Osteuropa, von 2015 bis 2023 Leiterin des Osteuropa-Instituts der Freien Universität Berlin. Im Exzellenzcluster 'Contestations of the Liberal Script (SCRIPTS)' ist sie Principal Investigator. Als Osteuropa-Kennerin und Expertin hat sie sich viele Jahre intensiv mit den Transformationsprozessen in Ostdeutschland, Mittelosteuropa und Russland befasst. Zu ihren aktuellen Forschungsthemen gehören der illiberale Konservatismus, Wirtschafts- und Sozialpolitik sowie die Rolle von Eliten in Russland.
