Joseph Ikekwere received his medical degree from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He later relocated to the United States where he obtained a Master of Public Health degree at the East Tennessee State University (ETSU). His active participation in HIV psychiatry research/projects kept him at the ETSU where he pursued his general psychiatry residency. His interest in neurodevelopment during childhood made him pursue Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at the University of Michigan. Currently, he is rounding off an addiction fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in Illinois, USA.
