Professor João Quinta da Fonseca is currently Professor of Mechanical Metallurgy at the University of Manchester. He is the director of LightForm, a 5-year multidisciplinary project with core support from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) programme grant scheme, where he leads the Ti research activity, which centres around understanding and modelling the microstructure evolution of Ti alloys during processing, and the effect of microstructure on their performance in service.
