Jean-Philippe Pons is a Senior Principal Software Development Engineer at the Esri Research and Development Center in Stuttgart, Germany, where he joined in February 2024. He leads the team that works on 3D Gaussian splatting and 3D mesh processing. Previously, he spent nine years at Bentley Systems, where he led the development of iTwin Capture Modeler, a photogrammetry solution. He is the former founder and CEO of Acute3D, the French start-up that brought to market this photogrammetry solution in 2011. Jean-Philippe received a PhD in Computer Vision from École des Ponts ParisTech in 2005.
