Professor James Fishwick is a Merit Technologist and Scientist at Plymouth Marine Laboratory, where he leads the Marine Technology and Autonomy group. He drives the development and deployment of net zero autonomous observing systems that deliver high-quality science and enhance understanding of dynamic coastal seas, notably through the globally significant Western Channel Observatory. James works closely with academic and commercial partners to develop, integrate, and validate innovative marine technologies and sensors. He leads Smart Sound Plymouth, the UK’s centre for marine robotics validation and demonstration, and chairs the Future Autonomous at Sea Technologies (FAST) cluster.
