Jimmy Alves serves as Associate Director of Physical Security and Safety Services at KPMG US and acts as a senior advisor on security risk for industry and government forums. He leads enterprise risk assessment and mitigation programs across the firm’s U.S. offices, aligning threat intelligence, facility vulnerability analysis, and incident preparedness to strengthen resilience and business continuity. Previously, Jimmy directed physical security risk initiatives at Amazon and oversaw governance for more than 3,000 sites. He established standardized risk frameworks that enabled regional identification and treatment of threats, including ownership of the Firearms Risk Management Portfolio. His work in criminal threat intelligence converted fragmented on-site incident signals into actionable scoring models and measurable controls that reduced residual risk while maintaining operational speed. Jimmy’s government and defense career includes service as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force and support to joint commands in the Middle East and Central Asia. He synchronized force protection and critical infrastructure programs for U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command Central, integrating criminal, terrorist, and geopolitical threat streams into risk-based protection strategies. He also served as Director of the J34 and as Executive Agent for advanced lethal miniature aerial munitions program, including developing still used protection procedures ensuring safety and compliance throughout capability fielding. A three-time Bronze Star recipient, Jimmy brings more than 25 years of experience operating in high-stakes environments. He focuses on pragmatic mitigation roadmaps that connect threat intelligence to real-world decision making and control effectiveness. His perspective supports organizations seeking durable security outcomes, trusted operations, and prepared leadership.
