Gale is an Adjunct Professor at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. He is currently active in forensic consulting, research and conducts workshops for various private organisations and government departments. He retired in 2013 as the Deputy Dean of Teaching and Learning in the School of Science. From 1988 to 2008 he was the Program Leader of Scientific Photography and from 2008 to 2011, was the Program Leader of the Applied Science Multi-major degree program. Gale is a BCA Louis Schmidt Laureate.
