I am a Research Assistant Professor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Utah, co-founder of the departmental Center for Obstetric and Reproductive Shared Decision Making and Clinical Implementation (CiRCLE), and Center Director of the NIH-funded ELEVATE Maternal Health Center of Excellence. I have a PhD in Cognitive Psychology and have worked in health research for the last 12 years. Much of my experience during the past 12 years has been with Dr. Erin Rothwell, working to design and assess several decision support tools related to genetic testing and women's health, including prenatal screening, carrier screening, genetic testing of embryos for IVF, stillbirth and the retention of newborn screening bloodspots for research use. I'm currently a member of the research team for the following federally funded projects: Comparing Game Facilitated Interactivity to Genetic Counseling for Prenatal Screening Education (Rothwell; R01HG011921); Implementing a Novel Consent Process for Biospecimen Research after Newborn Screening in Hospitals Serving Diverse Patients (Rothwell; R01HD082148); ELEVATE Center: Reduction of Maternal Morbidity from Substance Use Disorder in Utah (Metz; U54HD113169).
