Rie R. Yotsu, MD, MIPH, DTM&H, PhD Rie Yotsu is a dermatologist, and with her interest in global health, has cultivated her expertise in skin infections. She is currently an Associate Professor at the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans, USA. She especially has longstanding track record of her contributions to the field of skin-related neglected tropical diseases, or the ‘skin NTDs’. She led the technical development the recently published skin NTDs framework - a first document by WHO on skin NTDs, putting skin health to the global agenda. Her research focus has been on the epidemiology, surveillance, and management of skin NTDs, especially recently, through the use of digital health tools with an aim to bring healthcare closer to where people affected by skin NTDs reside. Her work also extends to diagnostic kit development, wound care, and reduction of stigma and discrimination. She holds degrees in Medicine from Jikei University School of Medicine (Japan), a Master's in International Public Health and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene both from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (UK), and Ph.D. in Public Health from the University of Tokyo.
