Patrick Herwig studied Mechatronics at Dresden University of Technology. His dissertation investigated laser processing of high reflective materials. In 2007 he gets member of the team system technology at Fraunhofer IWS. Since 2013 he is heading the team laser cutting and is pushing new cutting applications, inspired by experience in system technology. His team is working on process development (e.g. Dynamic Beam Shaping), monitoring (e.g. heat cameras) and special purpose applications.
