David Dye is a Professor of Metallurgy in the Department of Materials at Imperial College, London, UK. He joined Imperial College in 2003 from Chalk River, Canada, prior to which he did his PhD in Cambridge University. His work in titanium alloys has primarily concerned in-service degradation mechanisms in conventional wrought Ti alloys such as fatigue and stress corrosion cracking. He has also worked on metastable beta-Ti alloy deformation mechanisms, including orthorhombic martensite TRIP and TWIP, and on forging and microstructure development.
