David is a Professor of Innovation and Director of Industry Partnerships in the School of Healthcare Enterprise and Innovation at Southampton University where he works with the Healthcare Innovator & Accelerator and the Institute for Medical Innovation. David studied Physics and then Computer Science at university and started his career working in the Central Research Laboratories of Thorn EMI plc. David then joined the American computer company Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). David moved into the university sector in 2002 and joined Southampton University as a founding director of SETsquared. David completed a seven year term as a board member of the UK Intellectual Property Regulation Board. David has been a non-executive director or board observer at a number of high growth technology companies.
