Benoît Appolaire is currently professor of Metallurgy at Université de Lorraine, France. He carries out his research work at Institut Jean Lamour in Nancy, focusing on microstructure evolutions in metallic alloys, with a strong emphasis on numerical modeling. Titanium alloys have been his favorite playground for more than 20 years. His is now deputy director of Laboratory of Excellence DAMAS (Design of Alloy Metals for low-mAss Structures), and member of the scientific boards of the French Titanium Association and the French Materials Society SF2M.
