Professor Alexander Phillips is a Consultant Oesophagogastric Surgeon at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Professor of Oesophagogastric Surgery and Surgical Education at Newcastle University. He is Head of the Northern Oesophagogastric Unit and Clinical Lead for Upper GI Cancer for the Northern Cancer Alliance. His clinical and academic work focuses on improving outcomes for patients with oesophageal and gastric cancer through innovation in surgical care, pathway redesign, early diagnosis, prehabilitation, and the implementation of new technologies including robotic surgery.
