Julia Hermida is an Argentine researcher, recognized as a 2022 IBRO-IBE/UNESCO Science of Learning Fellow for applying cognitive science to reduce educational, health, and social inequalities in Latin America. Holding a PhD in Psychology, she has been a visiting professor in France (ENS-Paris), Brazil, Costa Rica, Chile, and Uruguay, serves on the editorial board of Developmental Science, and has over 35 publications and 20 invited talks. Currently, she is an Adjunct Professor and researcher at the Universidad Nacional de Hurlingham and Argentina’s National Council of Scientific Research.

Hyo Gweon received her PhD in Cognitive Science from MIT in 2012, where she also completed her postdoctoral training before joining Stanford in 2014. Her research investigates the cognitive foundations and development of human social intelligence. Using developmental and computational approaches, Gweon studies how humans—especially young children—learn, teach, and communicate in social contexts, and how these capacities support thinking and learning not only about the external world but also about the self.
