Amanda A. Cavanagh, DVM, DACVECC is an Associate Professor of Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care at Colorado State University. She earned her DVM from Auburn University and acquired ACVECC board certification in 2015 after completing a residency at North Carolina State University. Amanda’s special interests include brachycephalic dogs and cats (personally and professionally), transfusion medicine, trauma, and toxicology.

Jack Teitelman is a retired DEA Supervisory Special Agent with over 30 years of dedicated service in combating the illegal trafficking of narcotics and controlled substances. He began his distinguished career in 1988 after earning a BA in Criminal Justice from the University of North Florida and graduating from the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. Over his 30-year tenure with the DEA, Jack amassed extensive experience across all facets of complex criminal drug conspiracy investigations. His leadership in dismantling numerous drug trafficking organizations—both domestically and internationally—earned him numerous awards and commendations. Jack leads TITAN Group, a DEA regulatory compliance consulting firm recognized for providing exceptional services across the human and animal healthcare industries. He has guided TITAN in assisting hundreds of clients, helping them avoid or reduce fines, prevent registration losses, and resolve supplier issues.

Teena Price, BSc, BVMS, DACVP, is an Anatomic Pathologist at AscentPath Veterinary Laboratories. She earned her BVMS (DVM equivalent) from Murdoch University in 1994, and spent 8 years in small animal and emergency practice before completing a dual anatomic and clinical pathology internship at the University of Queensland and a residency at UC Davis. She achieved ACVP board certification in 2007. With more than 20 years of diagnostic pathology experience, her interests include oncologic pathology, dermatopathology, IHC, and PARR analysis. She is passionate about collaborating with clinicians, building strong professional relationships, and providing high-quality diagnostic interpretation to support patient care.

Bio

Dr. Amara Estrada is a Professor of Cardiology and the Associate Chair for Instruction in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She frequently speaks at continuing education meetings both on a national and international level. She enjoys collegial collaborations with her colleagues both within the veterinary cardiology and pediatric cardiology disciplines. Her research interests are on inherited cardiomyopathies and interprofessional education. She graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and completed her cardiology residency program at Cornell University.

Dr Jeff Mayo has been a veterinarian in the Puget Sound area for 31 years. Most of his time has been focused on providing exceptional surgical procedures at many veterinary clinics in the area to include techniques to improve breathing in dogs with BOAS. He has lectured most of his career in many countries around the world on various topics on surgery. His current focus is on minimally invasive diagnostics using endoscopes and ultrasound. Dr Mayo is boarded by the American Board of Veterinary Practice in Canine and Feline Practice and Canine and Feline Orthopedics.

Bio

Pam Kirby, RVT, VTS (Ophthalmology), graduated from Purdue University’s veterinary technology program in 1997 and was employed by the university until she left on July 1, 2025. She dedicated 23 of those years to working in the ophthalmology department. Pam has special interests in large animal ophthalmology and surgery. Pam most recently joined the Aventix Animal Health team as an ophthalmology consultant. Throughout her career, she has taught veterinary and veterinary nursing students in various settings, including the clinic floor, classroom, labs, and online formats. Additionally, Pam has presented at local, regional, and national conferences. She has also contributed articles to publications such as Today’s Veterinary Nurse and Veterinary Team Brief and co-authored the ophthalmology chapter of *Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care for Veterinary Technicians*. In 2025, Pam was honored as one of three recipients of the Dr. Earl H. Rippie Veterinary Nurse Leadership Scholarship. She has served on the executive board of the Veterinary Ophthalmic Technician Society and is currently a charter member and immediate past president of the Academy of Veterinary Ophthalmic Technicians.

Julie Antonellis received her bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology from Quinnipiac University. Since then she has been working in the field of emergency and critical care and pursuing her love of teaching. She became a Veterinary Technician Specialist in emergency and critical care in 2001. Julie is grateful to be able to give back to the veterinary community through teaching, training and lecturing.
