<p data-olk-copy-source="MessageBody">An early career fire safety professional, Sonny currently works as a Building Safety Officer for a Housing Association.&nbsp; Previously, he has worked for a private boarding school, assisting with facility management across a diverse 1200-acre campus, including state-of-the-art new blocks to historic listed buildings. He was the lead author of the FIA guidance document - Fire Alarm Considerations for People with Sensory Sensitivities. &nbsp;</p> <p aria-hidden="true">Utilising a research grant from the IFSM, Sonny then conducted case studies in several special needs schools to produce a report on the appropriateness of fire alarm provisions for those with sensory sensitivities.</p>

Andy's role as National Technical Manager within Aico provides technical expertise on domestic Fire/ CO alarms, Environmental sensors, and home life safety products. Andy holds responsibility over the technical aspects of Aico products, support, and training, as well as contributing to National, European, and International standards and providing liaison with industry associations and institutes. Along with Andy's role within the technical team at Aico, he is a trustee at the CO Research Trust (CORT), the Vice Chair of the FIA (Fire Industry Association) FD&A (Fire Detection and Alarm council) and chair the FIA SAD (Smoke alarms Devices) working group. Andy is an active member of CoGDEM (Council of Gas Detection and Environmental Monitoring) for expertise in domestic Carbon Monoxide alarms and a member of CENELEC Technical Committee 216 for gas detection. As a participant on several National, European, and international committees Andy is heavily involved in standardisation and is the panel chair for the BSI working group responsible for BS 5839-6.

Andy Spence heads up Britannia Fire, a leading UK manufacturer of composite fire extinguishers. A Board Director at the FIA and council member for Extinguishing Council and Composites UK representative on BSI FSH2 panel, Andy is on a mission to make the industry do better by simplifying fire safety, reducing unnecessary costs for the end-user, and minimising environmental impact.

<p>Laura has a wealth of experience representing large companies and senior individuals in relation to Health and Safety and Fire Safety. Laura works across sectors but most often in Energy and Infrastructure. She regularly works on high profile cases resulting in fatalities and serious injuries. Her advice is often immediately post incident and in relation to internal investigations and communications with Regulators and the police. Laura also advises in the content of inquests and public inquiries. She regularly provides H&amp;S compliance advice in the context of complex contractual or joint venture scenarios.</p> <p>Laura receives excellent feedback from clients and consistently obtains favourable results. She takes pride in being extremely responsive and approachable. Laura is known for her procedural knowledge and experience and careful strategic considerations.</p>

Jan is an experienced housing practitioner having been in housing for over 57 years. He was in local government for 33 years; 13 of which was as a Chief Officer. He created Jan Taranczuk Associates in 2009 and has been working with a range of housing organisations and private companies on initiatives to improve services to residents, particularly around innovative products in social housing. He is vice-chair of the London and Southeast branch of the National Social Housing Fire Strategy Group, a corporate member of the Chartered Institute of Housing, and a past chair of its London Regional Board. He is also an Associate of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers.
