A New York-based marketing and branding executive, Barry Silverman currently serves as Vice President of Brand and Marketing at Ultrafabrics, a leading provider of performance fabrics across 11 global industries. Ultrafabrics has collaborated with renowned brands including Jaguar Land Rover, Fitbit, Virgin Galactic, MillerKnoll and American Airlines. With a 25-year career spanning agency roles at FutureBrand and Interbrand, as well as client-side positions, Silverman has challenged the status quo in industries including pharma, healthcare, retail, real estate, transportation and the built environment. He believes in the symbiotic relationship between marketing data and decision-makers' instincts, showcasing through his leadership that data shapes one's instinct in crafting effective marketing strategies. Silverman is also a speaker, podcast guest and lecturer at universities and marketing symposiums.

Beatrice Bertolini

Bio

Beatrice is a lighting designer with an architectural background. She studied at Politecnico di Milano, where she received both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in architecture. Attracted by the unique natural lighting conditions in Scandinavia, Beatrice moved to Stockholm to attend the Master of Science in Architectural Lighting Design at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Upon completion of her studies, Beatrice joined Equation Lighting Design, where she gained experience in both indoor and outdoor lighting. Her portfolio spans a wide range of projects, from lighting masterplans to public realm lighting, to high-end commercial and residential interior projects and lighting to heritage buildings. Beatrice also currently operates as the IALD UK coordinator contributing to the organisation of events, talks and workshops for the lighting community in the UK. In January 2024, Beatrice received the Lighting Design 40under40 award.

Bio

Beata Denton is an architect and lighting designer, educated at KTH in Stockholm and at Westminster University in London. She was head of the Interior design studio at pS Arkitektur in Stockholm for many years and has been working with lighting design for about 20 years. She works in Sweden but has had a gap year working as a lighting designer in London. Her passion for lighting and storytelling led her to take the step four years ago when she Initiated the Lighting studio in Reflex Architects, Stockholm, which she is running today. Her speciality is working with office lighting for strong brands such as RedBull and TUI Travels and many gaming companies, notably Skype, Mojang, King and Paradox interactive. Her work also includes hospitality lighting for restaurants and bars and private homes. Beata finds great satisfaction in meeting with people and learning from peers in the business, as well being a mentor herself. She has been a mentor for 2 consecutive years in the Silhouette Awards and she is presently representing Women in Lighting in Stockholm. She was the Chairwoman for the Swedish Lighting Society for 5 years until last December.

Ben Allen

Architect and Founder · Studio Ben Allen

Bio

Ben Allen was founded in 2014 by architect Ben Allen and is built on over 15 years experience collaborating with designers, architects, artists and other creative disciplines. Having studied architecture at the Mackintosh School of Architecture, Ben worked for Fletcher Priest Architects and Jonathan Tuckey Design before moving to Berlin. There he worked at Studio Olafur Eliasson for almost a decade, on projects including Harpa, the Icelandic National Concert Hall, Reykjavik, which won the Mies van der Rohe European Union architecture prize in 2013-14, Your Rainbow Panorama at the Aros Museum, Aarhus. From 2009 he co-founded and collaborated with the collective KWY before relocating to London and founding Studio Ben Allen. Ben has also acted as a studio tutor at Oxford Brookes University and been a guest lecturer and critic at The Mackintosh School of Architecture, the Universität der Künste Berlin, Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art.

Prior to co founding Unknown Works, Ben was Project Architect at Niall McLaughlin Architects working on a number public and private projects in the UK, including the RIBA Stephen Laurence prize winning project The Fishing Hut, Hampshire House shortlisted for RIBA house of the year and the Mies Van der Rohe Prize shortlisted Welcome Building of Auckland Castle. Formerly Ben held a senior research position at Rural Urban Lab at the University of Hong Kong exploring the processes of rural to urban transformation across Asia. Ben previously worked at Foster + Partners in both the London and Beijing offices on a number of high profile international projects including Apple Headquarters at Cupertino and a National Art Museum of China in Datong, China. Ben is a Lecturer and runs a design studio at the Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL and has taught on the postgraduate programme at the University of Hong Kong. He was awarded the RIBA Silver Medal in 2013
