I use AI for the stuff that used to eat up my week. Pulling together reports, summarising meeting notes, building first drafts of briefs, and organising campaign timelines across multiple markets. The unglamorous work that has to happen, but shouldn't take a senior marketer's best hours.

That's where it started. But once the admin noise dropped, something shifted. I had more space to actually think. More time to sit with a brief, challenge an assumption, or have a proper conversation with a sales leader about what's really happening in their pipeline.

On the creative side, I use AI to explore directions faster. Not to generate ideas for me, but to pressure-test them. Will this message land with a CISO? Does this narrative hold together? It's like having a sparring partner available at any hour.

I've also built workflows that take a single asset and adapt it across channels and regions without the usual back-and-forth. My team focuses on strategy and storytelling instead of reformatting slides.

The real shift isn't about AI making marketing more creative or more efficient. It's when you remove the friction, better decisions follow naturally.

AI has definitely been essential in my work at PPC Live and Search Engine Land to make ME faster. It's not where I go for answers - it's where I go when there are so many ideas in my head and I don't know where to start or how to properly organise them. So I use ChatGPT and Claude to help organise in the correct format my articles for Search Engine Land. I also use Notebook LLM for the articles I use on PPC Live so my authors don't have to spend too much time digging out images or excerpts. I also use it for the TLDR (too long didn't read) section for my articles. I also use ChatGPT or Claude to help with social media promotion. I will give it a full article and ask it to create a post in the tone of voice I use for my LinkedIn profile. I also use Canva’s AI features regularly to help create unique versions of my creatives.

Creative Intelligence, to me, starts with a tension: the most effective marketing is both deeply human and increasingly machine-shaped. My content creation sits in that intersection. Through "Marketing That Worked On Me", I document the rare moments where marketing cuts through - even to those trained to resist it. I use AI to interrogate those moments at scale and identify patterns in messaging, structure and emotional triggers that turn creative instinct into repeatable insight. But the output isn't 'automation' it's sharper thinking. AI helps me get to better questions faster, explore alternative creative routes, and challenge my own biases. It expands the creative process, rather than replaces it. In a world where B2B often over-relies on logic and B2C often underuses it, AI enables my creative experimentation, that best of both worlds and created work that is strategically grounded but emotionally resonant. Beyond campaigns, I apply this thinking to community-building to curate spaces where marketers can learn from each other more openly. For me, Creative Intelligence isn't about doing more. It's about thinking better and creating work that actually moves people.

Many fear AI. I think it's the single best thing that's happened to our industry, which probably says more about the industry than the AI.

As a small studio, it's not just helping us compete with bigger agencies, it's helping us beat them. Turns out you don't need 200 people and a meeting about the meeting anymore. Just better thinking.

We use it at every stage, from upstream research to creative visualisation and synthetic focus groups. Basically, all the things that used to take weeks, budgets, and someone called Dave saying let's sense check this.

After decades of big companies monopolising entire sectors, AI is finally levelling the playing field.

Which is great.

Unless you're a big company.
