A mathematician and physicist, Bodnia has a Ph.D. in quantum information and algebraic topology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she also worked on neuroscience and brain development, and a B.S. in physics from the University of California, Berkeley. Bodnia is the author or co-author of 22 academic papers on dark matter, quantum mechanics, and particle physics. Before emigrating to the U.S., Bodnia studied math and applied physics at St. Petersburg State University in Russia. She was born in Zhitikara, Kazakhstan.
