<p>Matteo Deidda is a seasoned sustainability leader, currently working as Global Net Zero Lead at Tide, a global fintech, where he leads the organisation&rsquo;s decarbonisation strategy and supports over 1,000,000 small business customers on their net-zero journeys.</p> <p>With more than a decade of experience in corporate sustainability, Matteo has driven sustainability transformations within FTSE 100 companies across retail (Sainsbury&rsquo;s), technology (Vodafone UK), finance (Lloyds Banking Group).</p> <p>Matteo also contributes to the sustainability community as a Chartered Energy Manager, CISL Assessor, startup mentor, and advisory board member, including roles at PlanetMark and EMEX. Passionate about pragmatic, purpose driven environmental sustainability integration, he champions scalable, innovative and inclusive climate solutions for SMEs and large organisations alike.<br /> <br /> &nbsp;</p> <p><strong>What would you preach to the industry: your one big thing everyone needs to hear?</strong></p> <p>The journey towards Net Zero is far and foremost a narrative challenge now, rather than a technology challenge. As sustainability&nbsp;professionals, we need to get much better at articulating the value of what we do, above and beyond reducing carbon emissions. We need to be comfortable&nbsp;in linking back what we do to business risk, growth&nbsp;opportunities, supply chain reliability, legislation compliance and so on.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Why do you think emex is a valuable event and why is it important to you to be a part of the advisory board?</strong></p> <p>I have been attending EMEX since the beginning of my career over 10 years ago. <p>Neil is currently working as Senior Energy Manager for CBRE Global Workplace Solutions supporting the Landsec Lifestyle Portfolio. Having worked in the energy sector for nearly 20 years Neil has an excellent overview of the challenges and opportunities faced by the energy sector.<br /> <br /> With a background in engineering, he is focused primarily on the technical and financial viability of projects and initiatives with a key focus on the practical implications of delivery at pace and scale. Having delivered over &pound;30m worth of energy efficiency projects he has a particular focus on engineering project delivery in existing buildings.<br /> <br /> Having previously held roles within multi-site organisations along with energy engineering, innovation, consultancy and contracting, it has given him a wide and varied experience of practical energy project delivery. With the recent focus on developing and adapting focus to accelerate Net Zero, he is particularly aware of the challenges we face in the journey to decarbonise.<br /> <br /> Neil is a Chartered Engineer, Chartered Energy Engineer and Chartered Energy Manager and a professional member of the Energy Institute (EI), Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers (CIBSE).</p>

Will Ennett is a Chartered Environmentalist and has been recognised in the top 100 most impactful environmental professionals in the UK by The ENDS Power List 2025. Will has 20 years' experience in technology, telecoms and media companies. He spent five years leading Sustainability and ESG efforts for TalkTalk Group, as well as chairing a cross-industry forum which brought together government, regulators and companies worth &pound;50bn in annual turnover to tackle some of the most pressing sustainability challenges for the sector. &nbsp;

<p>A former Sustainability &amp; Energy Manager in retail, policy advisor and energy management trainer, with a wealth of expertise and experience in driving low carbon initiatives in large organisations. Haydn has since founded Rutland Forums, a knowledge sharing and collaboration network of the UKs leading sustainability and energy management practitioners.  Through the network members meet regularly by sector, alongside accessing topical workshops and backing ambitious projects recognised as solving genuine net zero problems. The network has grown rapidly and now involves over 300 practitioners from the 70 member organisations and is opening new sectors in the UK and USA.</p>

Paul has worked in the public and private sectors, and academia for over 28 years specialising in local energy planning and accelerating energy infrastructure delivery, low carbon building standards and construction, supply chain development and sector training schemes, and ecosystems services. &nbsp;All hiss endeavours have been data informed and led with a demonstrable and tangible outcomes. &nbsp;Paul set up one of the BEIS Energy Hubs, now DESNZ Net Zero Hubs, following the creation of one of the pioneer Local Energy Strategies for a four-county area, and has worked with local authorities to accelerate energy and carbon reduction projects and initiatives. &nbsp;He has an extensive project funding track record in Europe and in the UK achieved through co-creating and developing ideas with a multitude of partners from concept, through financial models and business cases to successful delivery. &nbsp;Paul has worked at a University in the Faculty of Business and Law specialising in securing research funding and practical delivery of civic decarbonisation initiatives resulting in sustainable economic development and local energy and carbon savings. &nbsp;He led the UK team on a European funded project with four other countries to develop a Land Use Opportunities Tool for local authorities to use for prospecting renewable energy projects. &nbsp;Paul has worked nationally for the Passivhaus Trust on supply chain training and commercial development to grow the green economy throughout the UK for both new build and retrofit. &nbsp;At Local Partnerships Paul is currently working on retrofit strategy development at county levels, regional skills assessment and clean energy job development in sub-regions, and innovative technical and financial solutions to city wide infrastructure development for multiple utilities.&nbsp;

<p>Abel Martins Alexandre has an experience that spans c. 30 years, four continents, in both banking and corporate, in a range of strategy, commercial, and finance roles.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He was most recently Managing Director &amp; Head of Infrastructure, Energy &amp; Industrials at Lloyds Corporate &amp; Institutional Bank, and led a team of c. 50 bankers providing the full range of global banking and markets products to c. 250 clients across the UK, US and Europe, and with a particular emphasis on supporting clients with their energy transition strategy.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Before Lloyds, Abel was the Group Treasurer of Rio Tinto,&nbsp;one of the world&rsquo;s largest diversified metals and mining groups, where he spent fifteen years in a range of strategy, business development, transformation, commercial and finance roles. He was also member of Rio Tinto Finance Leadership Team and Commercial Leadership Team.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>In addition to his finance expertise both in banking and corporate and the many transactions he has led incl. M&amp;A, IPOs, complex financing structures, Abel has gained vast experience across range of stakeholders, incl. investors, private equity and investment firms, multi-lateral organisations, governments, rating agencies, industry bodies, communities). He also draws from this diverse and international experience to offer unique perspectives on solutions to business challenges.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Abel holds Masters degrees from Toulouse and London Business Schools respectively and a post-graduate degree in International Economics and Finance from University Paris Dauphine.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Abby is Head of Sustainability at Openreach and vice chairman of Surrey Wildlife Trust. With more than 10 years&rsquo; experience in sustainability across multiple sectors, she has led the sustainability team at Openreach for 3 years where strategic streams include transitioning the UK&rsquo;s second biggest commercial fleet to zero emissions, recovering legacy materials and reducing material impact, and building sensitively in our natural environments, contributing to a nature positive society. &nbsp;She sits on the Digital Connectivity Forum Climate and Sustainability Working Group and is a full and chartered member of IEMA.&nbsp;

As the Head of Sustainable Technology at Wates Group, Zainab leads and implements the company's sustainability strategy and vision across all its projects and operations. &nbsp;With over 15 years of experience in the construction industry, she has a strong focus on sustainable innovation and delivering net-zero building transformation. &nbsp;Zainab's core competencies include engaging with external stakeholders, developing and executing action plans, and motivating and empowering a positive culture of change within the organisation. She is passionate about building a greener, more sustainable world and enjoys connecting and working with like-minded professionals.

<p>Alexandra is Associate Director, Net Zero and Sustainable Procurement at NHS England, where she leads the team responsible for&nbsp;delivering a net zero Carbon Footprint Plus for the NHS.&nbsp;She was recognised in 2024 as being the 5th most influential woman in procurement by &lsquo;Procurement Magazine&rsquo;.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>In 2020, the NHS became the world&rsquo;s first national health system to commit to become &lsquo;carbon net zero&rsquo;. Carbon Footprint Plus&nbsp;includes&nbsp;the NHS&rsquo;&nbsp;wider supply chain,&nbsp;aiming for an&nbsp;80% reduction&nbsp;in&nbsp;emissions&nbsp;by 2036-2039&nbsp;and Net&nbsp;Zero by 2045.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Following the release of the &lsquo;Delivering a Net Zero Report&rsquo;, Alexandra has led the development and implementation of the NHS&rsquo; world-leading programme. &nbsp;She was instrumental in the publication of the Net Zero Supplier Roadmap for the NHS and works across the diverse and complex NHS supply chain to deliver net zero carbon, drive social value and eradicate modern slavery across the supply chain.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Before joining NHSE,&nbsp;Alexandra&nbsp;led on the strategic and operational implementation of green plans for NHS organisations across the country,&nbsp;as well as some of the largest decarbonising infrastructure projects in the health sector, enabled by procurement frameworks.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Alexandra holds a&nbsp;Master&rsquo;s&nbsp;degree in Environmental Policy from Edinburgh University, she graduated with honours from Boston College in the USA, and has previously led the award-winning sustainability programme at Guy&rsquo;s and St Thomas&rsquo; NHS Foundation Trust.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Why do you think emex is a valuable event and why is it important to you to be a part of the advisory board?</strong></p> <p>There are few opportunities for the energy community to gather and share knowledge and I believe EMEX is invaluable in it's ability to do it.
