Jim Tobin, CAE, is president and CEO of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and has more than 20 years of association experience with a broad housing policy background. He began at NAHB in 1998 as a Congressional representative for the western U.S., later expanding his expertise in environmental and tax policy. Tobin most recently served as executive vice president and chief lobbyist, directing NAHB’s federal, state, and local advocacy and political activities, before becoming president and CEO in 2023. He previously served as senior legislative assistant to U.S. Representatives Frank Riggs and Gary Franks. Tobin holds a BA in political science from the University of Connecticut and lives in Falls Church, Va., with his wife and two children.
